Barcelona: Day 1

Our first family venture to Spain brought us to Barcelona - the second largest city in Spain and the largest city on the Mediterranean.  Since I mentioned the dampening effect of the gray skies in London, I must also mention that the non-stop sunshine and blue skies in Barcelona seemed to melt away the memories of misfortune from our stay in the UK.  We were also fortunate to meet up with our dear friends the Smileys for a fun and crazy 4 days with our combined team of 6 young children and 5 adults (Thanks to Lindsey's mom, Grandma Liz, for taking it all in stride!)
Catedral de la Santa Cruz y Santa Eulalia
Strolling Down la Rambla
One of the city's most famous markets, La Boqeria, has existed in various forms since the 11th Century.  I would highly recommend a walk through it's lively, colorful and delicious stalls.
Christopher Columbus reported back to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella here in Barcelona after he returned from his first voyage to the Americas.
A perfect spot to enjoy our market fare for lunch!

After lunch we headed to the Barcelona Aquarium!  We don't get to do anything like that around us at home, so it was a great treat for everyone!  Afterwards we sought out some Mexican Food and walked our weary legs back to our apartment.  A good day was had by all!
